Jaundice Symptoms, Causes, Treatment and Prevention!
Jaundice is a medical condition characterized by the yellowing of the skin, mucous membranes, and the whites of the eyes, which results from elevated levels of bilirubin in the blood.
Jaundice symptoms include yellowing of skin and eyes, pale stools, dark urine, itchiness, fever, stomach pain, and flu-like symptoms. Severe cases may lead to confusion, drowsiness, and increased susceptibility to bruising or bleeding.
The causes of jaundice are various conditions that impair the liver's ability to process bilirubin effectively, including liver damage, hepatitis, cirrhosis, blood disorders, infections, and blockages in bile ducts or the gallbladder.
Jaundice treatment focuses on addressing the root cause through medication, lifestyle changes, or surgery. Severe cases may require a liver transplant for extensive liver damage.
Jaundice can be prevented by moderating alcohol intake, maintaining a healthy diet, managing medications, receiving vaccinations, practicing safe sex, staying at a healthy weight, and controlling cholesterol. These actions support liver health and reduce jaundice risks.
