What Causes Sleepwalking?

What are some factors that can contribute to sleepwalking?

 

Some factors are :-

 

Hereditary Influence:

  • Sleepwalking often has a hereditary component, increasing the likelihood if a family member has a history of it.

 

Sleep Deprivation:

  • Inadequate sleep can exacerbate sleepwalking episodes.

 

Emotional Stress:

  • Feelings of worry or nervousness may contribute to the occurrence of sleepwalking.

 

Fever in Children:

  • In children, sleepwalking may be more pronounced during a fever caused by infection.

 

Substance Use:

  • Excessive alcohol consumption or drug use can worsen the frequency and intensity of sleepwalking.

 

Medication Effects:

  • Certain medications, especially sedatives, can be a contributing factor to sleepwalking episodes.

 

Abrupt Awakening:

  • Being suddenly roused from a deep sleep by a loud noise or touch can trigger sleepwalking.
