Infertility is a widespread concern among couples these days. There have been multiple reasons for this problem, of this struggle in these couples.
The 4 top causes of Infertility in Women are:
- The most common cause among women is Failure to Ovulate, which is seen in almost 40% of women with infertility issues. Some causes that may result to this condition are certain Ovarian or gynecological conditions, such as primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
- Presence of abnormal tissue in the fallopian tubes or uterus. If the fallopian tubes are blocked, eggs are not able to move from the ovaries to the uterus and sperm is not able to reach the egg for fertilization. In case of Uterus, these blockages interfere with implantation and cause infertility.
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is one of the most common causes of female infertility. It is a condition in which a woman's ovaries produce androgens more than normal which interfere with the development of ovarian follicles and release of eggs during ovulation causing infertility.
- Autoimmune disorders, such as lupus, Hashimoto's and other types of thyroiditis, or rheumatoid arthritis, may affect fertility. Autoimmune disorders cause the body's immune system to attack normal body tissues and are thought to create inflammation in the uterus and placenta.
Infertility is a treatable condition. If you and your partner are struggling to conceive, consult a doctor, explore treatment options, and increase your chances of having a baby.
