Ringworm Management and Treatment in Ayurveda!

 

Ayurveda aims to treat the root cause of any illness by using several natural process such as: 
 

Sodhana: 
 

It is a therapy used to balance pitta dosha and rakta doshas by processes like Virechana that is (cleansing) and Raktamokshana that is (bloodletting). 
 

Virechana Karma: This therapy works by eliminating excess Pitta (fire element) and toxins from the body by cleansing methods which include following steps: 
 

  • Snehana Karma (Oleation): This therapy aims to achieve "samyaka sneha" which means proper body lubrication by intake of Panchatikta Ghrita (which is a medicated ghee) daily, in the morning after bowel emptying and urination. 
     
  • Swedana Karma (Sweating): It involves Peti Sweda, a steam therapy is performed in a steam chamber which promotes sweating and elimination of toxins which increases circulation. 
     
  • Virechana Karma (Actual Purgation): "Samyaka Sneha '' is done with a herbal remedy called Trivrit, that is taken in the morning. Sansarjana karma or (follow-up care), is conducted to monitor patients for effective purgation. 
     

Rakta-mokshana karma: 
 

Bloodletting therapy (Rakta-mokshana karma) is done using a needle, to withdraw approximately 60 ml of blood per session. 
 

Shamana Chikitsa- It uses herbal and mineral medicines that help balance Pitta-Kapha dosha and treat skin disease. 
 

Haridra or (turmeric) with milk or Panchatiktaka guggulu with honey can be taken to treat dadru internally. 
 

While, After shodhana or rakta-mokshana, lepa made of Amalaki , haritaki , Khadira are used and they contain different properties like Kushthaghna, Kandughna(reduced itching) and Krimighna(effective against worms or parasites).
