How it works:
Mala D stops the release of a hormone called Gonadotropin, which helps eggs grow and develop in the ovaries. Levonorgestrel, an emergency contraceptive, slows down the process of egg development and prevents fertilization. Together, they stop eggs from being released from the ovaries and prevent sperm from reaching and fertilizing an egg. They also change the lining of the uterus, making it hard for a fertilized egg to attach and grow.
