Satrogyl-O Dry Syrup belongs to the class of antibiotics used primarily to treat diarrhea and dysentery, as well as bacterial infections in various body areas. Diarrhea involves frequent loose or watery stools, while dysentery is characterized by severe diarrhea with mucus or blood in the stools. Bacterial infections result from harmful bacteria multiplying inside or on the body.

It contains two antibiotics: Ofloxacin and Satranidazole. Ofloxacin is a quinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase, necessary for DNA replication, transcription, and repair. Satranidazole is an anti-amoebic and antibacterial agent that kills harmful bacteria and parasites by damaging their DNA, preventing cell division, and inhibiting cell repair.
