Cefiden Syrup is a medication containing the antibiotic Cefixime, belonging to the cephalosporin class. It is prescribed for various bacterial infections.

Cefixime acts as a construction disruptor for bacteria, specifically targeting certain proteins in bacterial cell walls. The medication's beta-lactam rings interfere with the building process, breaking down the bacterial armor. This disruption is particularly effective against fast-growing bacteria, leading to their demise.

Follow the directions on your Cefixime label meticulously. The medication can be taken with or without food. This medicine will be provided by your doctor or nurse; avoid self-administration.

Common side effects may include indigestion, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or vaginal itching If these persist, consult your doctor.

Do not take Cefixime if allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics or penicillins. Crossreactivity may occur, ranging from mild skin rashes to severe anaphylaxis Inform your doctor about any penicillin allergies. For individuals with phenylketonuria (PKU), note that the chewable tablet may contain phenylalanine.
