AB Phylline N Tablet

Introduction

AB Phylline N Tablet 10s is a medicine containing Acebrophylline and acetylcysteine, prescribed for respiratory conditions, offering relief in different ways.

Acebrophylline finds application in managing respiratory conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and bronchitis. It operates by relaxing airway smooth muscles, widening passages, and aiding breathing. Additionally, its mucolytic properties help thin and reduce mucus viscosity, facilitating easier expectoration.

Acetylcysteine, on the other hand, is commonly employed to treat respiratory issues such as chronic bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, and pulmonary fibrosis. It functions as a mucolytic agent, breaking down and thinning airway mucus, and enhancing respiratory function.

Follow your doctor's advice – have it with or without food. Your prescribed dose depends on how you're doing. Stick with it for as long as the doctor suggests; stopping early might bring back symptoms.

Common side effects include temporary vomiting, heartburn, stomach upset, rash, itching, and nasal inflammation. If concerned, promptly consult your doctor. Avoid alcohol to prevent excessive drowsiness.

Never self medicate. Before starting, inform your doctor about liver/kidney issues, pregnancy, planning, or breastfeeding.

How it works

It contains acebrophylline which works as a bronchodilator by relaxing the muscles in the airways, making breathing easier. N-Acetylcysteine acts as a mucolytic agent, breaking down thick and sticky mucus in the airways, making it easier to clear and improving airflow.

How to take

To lower the risk of stomach pain, the tablets are typically taken orally with a glass of water after meals. You need to take medication exactly as directed by your doctor in order to maximise its benefits and avoid the possibility of negative effects.

Adverse drug effect

AB Phylline N Tablet may cause mild side effects like nausea, vomiting, or throat irritation. Rarely, serious issues such as allergic reactions or breathing difficulties can occur. Monitor symptoms and seek immediate medical help for severe side effects. Most people tolerate acetylcysteine well with proper use.
