It falls under a class of drugs called angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs). It functions by preventing a substance in the body that constricts blood vessels, leading to the relaxation of blood vessels.
This medication may cause dizziness or lightheadedness, so rise slowly when getting up from a sitting or lying position to avoid falling Usually taken orally once a day, with or without food, as directed by your doctor.

You may have to take Olmetor lifelong. Olmetor controls high blood pressure but does not cure it. Do not stop taking it even if your blood pressure is well controlled. Olmetor is generally considered safe to be taken for the long term. In some cases, long-term use may adversely affect the kidneys and the kidneys may not function as they should. Therefore, to keep track of how well your kidneys are working, your doctor may prescribe regular blood tests to check urea, creatinine, and potassium levels.
