How is Megazone administered?
Megazone is administered under the supervision of a trained healthcare professional or a doctor and should not be self administered. The dose will depend on the condition you are being treated for and will be decided by your doctor. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully to get maximum benefit from Megazone.

Is Megazone bactericidal or bacteriostatic?
Megazone is primarily bactericidal(one which kills the causative organisms) but it may be bacteriostatic (one which slows down the growth of bacteria) also. Its activity depends on the organism, tissue penetration, dosage, and rate of organism multiplication.

How long does Megazone take to work?
Usually, Megazone starts working soon after you take it. However, it may take some days to kill all the harmful bacteria and relieve your symptoms completely.

Can the use of Megazone cause diarrhea?
Yes, the use of Megazone can cause diarrhea. Megazone is an antibiotic which kills the harmful bacteria. However, it also affects the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. If diarrhea persists, talk to your doctor about it.

Is Megazone bad for the kidneys?
No, Megazone is not bad for the kidneys when given alone, but when given along with aminoglycosides (gentamicin, tobramycin) or other cephalosporins antibiotics, it may increase kidney damage. Therefore, it is advised to take this medicine only if prescribed by your doctor.

How does Megazone act?
Megazone acts by adhering to the proteins synthesized by the bacteria, thereby inhibiting the organisms to develop their protective covering known as cell wall. This kills the bacteria.
