No, you should not crush, chew, or break Sevapik into pieces. You should swallow it as a whole with water.

Does Sevapik cause constipation?

A common side effect of Sevapik is constipation, though it does not occur in everyone. The other common side effects of stomach and intestine include diarrhea, indigestion, flatulence, and pain in abdomen. Immediately consult your doctor if these side effects become severe and disturb you.

How long do I need to take Sevapik?

Continue taking Sevapik as long as recommended by your doctor. Sevapik lowers your dietary phosphate levels but does not cure your disease. Hence, you may have to take it life long, as stopping Sevapik may result in an increase in your phosphate levels.

Who should not take Sevapik?

Patients who are allergic to Sevapik and who have low levels of phosphate in blood should avoid taking Sevapik. Additionally, patients having intestinal obstruction should also avoid using Sevapik.

Can I take ciprofloxacin while I am taking Sevapik?

Ciprofloxacin may interfere with the working of Sevapik and therefore it should not be taken at the same time as Sevapik. However, if taken together then a gap of at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after taking Sevapik should be maintained.

Do I need to have any tests while taking Sevapik?

Yes, serum phosphate levels should be monitored regularly while you are taking Sevapik. Also, the use of Sevapik may decrease the levels of vitamin D, A, E, K, and folic acid and hence the levels need to be monitored during the treatment.
