Metglib Tablet
Introduction to Metglib Tablet
Metglib Tablet is a combination of Glipizide and metformin oral diabetes medications designed to regulate blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. Notably, it is not prescribed for type 1 diabetes.
This combination utilizes the synergistic effects of Glipizide and Metformin. Glipizide stimulates insulin production by the pancreas, facilitating glucose breakdown. Meanwhile, Metformin improves the body's response to insulin and reduces excessive glucose production in the liver.
Generally, it is taken with meals to maximize effectiveness. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if the next scheduled dose is near, skip the missed one. Avoid doubling up to make up for a missed dose.
Common side effects include upset stomach, nausea, diarrhoea, headache, or mild cold symptoms. However, if you experience severe hypoglycaemia (extreme weakness, blurred vision, confusion, etc), signs of heart problems, or symptoms of lactic acidosis (unusual muscle pain, trouble breathing), seek immediate medical attention.
Inform your healthcare provider of any allergies to Glipizide, Metformin, or related substances. Disclose your medical history, especially regarding kidney issues, heart conditions, or if you are over 80 years old and In instances of vomiting, diarrhoea, or fever, contact your doctor promptly to prevent dehydration.
If you happen to miss a dose, take it promptly. However, if the next scheduled dose is approaching, it is advisable to forgo the missed dose. Avoid doubling up to make up for a missed dose.
How Metglib Tablet Works
Similar to the standalone Glipizide, but combined with Metformin, this formulation provides dual mechanisms for glycemic control in type 2 diabetes. Glipizide stimulates insulin release, while Metformin reduces glucose production.
