Arteether operates as a potent antimalarial by disrupting the life cycle of the malaria parasite. As an artemisinin derivative, it interferes with the parasite's ability to survive in red blood cells, effectively treating severe cases of falciparum malaria.

The dosage and administration of it depend on the formulation used. For Alpha/beta Arteether in adults, it is administered through intramuscular injection for three consecutive days.
