Introduction to Edizol 20mg Capsule

Edizol 20mg Capsule is used to treat various stomach and digestive tract issues, such as duodenal ulcers, gastric ulcers, and moderate to severe reflux esophagitis.

Belonging to the proton pump inhibitor class, it works by reducing the production of stomach acid. This helps in the healing process of ulcers and eases symptoms related to reflux.

It's specifically helpful for individuals with duodenal ulcers (found in the first part of the small intestine) and gastric ulcers (in the stomach lining), which can cause discomfort and complications.

Patients prescribed this medication should follow their healthcare provider's advice regarding the correct dosage and how long to take it.

It's important to promptly inform your healthcare provider about any ongoing symptoms or any adverse effects experienced while using this medication.

Does Edizol cause vitamin deficiencies?

Edizol has the potential to lead to deficiencies in vitamin B12 and vitamin C This is primarily due to its impact on the absorption of vitamin B12 in the stomach Vitamin B12 requires an acidic environment to be effectively absorbed but Edizol decreases the secretion of gastric acid which can impede this process As a result it may be necessary to take vitamin B12 supplements in conjunction with Edizol to ensure adequate levels of this vital nutrient On the other hand the clinical significance of the decrease in vitamin C levels caused by Edizol is not fully understood at this time Therefore it is not currently recommended to supplement vitamin C while taking Edizol Additional research and further understanding of the implications of this decrease in vitamin C levels may be necessary to determine if supplementation is necessary or beneficial It is important to discuss these potential deficiencies and the need for supplementation with your healthcare provider when considering or using Edizol They can provide guidance and personalized recommendations based on your specific health needs and circumstances

Can I take Edizol with domperidone?

Edizol can be safely taken with domperidone as no harmful effects have been reported clinically. A fixed-dose combination of these two medicines is also available. Domperidone works by increasing the gut motility and Edizol decreases the acid production in the stomach. So, this combination is very effective in the treatment of reflux esophagitis associated with acidity, heartburn, intestinal and stomach ulcers.

Can Edizol cause calcium deficiency and osteoporosis?

Edizol can cause osteoporosis (thinning of bones) as it decreases the calcium absorption leading to calcium deficiency. This leads to an increased risk of bone fractures on long-term use, like hip, wrist or spine fractures. Inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis or if you are taking corticosteroids (these can increase the risk of osteoporosis) before starting your therapy. Consult your doctor on ways to prevent this. Your doctor may advise you calcium or vitamin D supplements to reduce the risk.
