Diagnosis and Tests:
- - Parasite-based testing confirms malaria, with blood tests identifying the parasite type, drug resistance, and organ impact.
- - Quick blood tests yield results in under 15 minutes, facilitating prompt treatment initiation.
Treatment:
- - Treatment varies based on parasite type, symptom severity, age, and pregnancy status. Antimalarial drugs like chloroquine, quinine sulfate, and artemisinin-based combinations are common.
Prevention:
- - Preventive measures include insect repellents, bed nets, and antimalarial medications.
- - Vaccines like RTS,S/AS01 and R21/Matrix-M are recommended in high transmission areas by WHO.
