Fatty Liver Disease Symptoms| Early Signs of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease !
- Fatty liver disease, commonly referred to as Non- Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), is a condition where excessive fat is found inside the liver or more than 5 to 10% of liver weight is due to fat.
- It is the most common liver disease that affects about 32% of adult population worldwide.
- A normal and healthy liver does not contain any fat and plays a major role in metabolism in the body.
- When you drink a lot of alcohol or eat more fatty foods, then the body uses process them in the form of energy and remaining fat is stored in the liver as a source of energy.
- When this fat grows more than 10% of the liver weight, it starts to affect the metabolism and lead to other health conditions.
What are the symptoms of Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD)?
- Fatty liver doesn't show any symptoms in most cases, however some of them include:
- Yellowing of eyes, and skin
- Dark colored urine
- Bloating and pain in stomach
- Tarry black stool
- Itchiness on the skin
- Swelling of feet
- And Fatigue
- Fatty liver is common in people with diabetes, obesity, increased cholesterol, or who usually drink alcohol.
- Non- Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease mainly occurs with no symptoms but, it is important to get tested for liver function test if your are a regular drinker, or eat a lot of junk food.
